Japan money orders
Effective Dec. 31, 2019, Japan Post discontinued selling international postal money orders destined to the United States.
Effective March 27, 2020, the U.S. Postal Service will stop selling international postal money orders destined for Japan. A customer who wishes to purchase an international postal money order destined for Japan must do so before March 27, 2020.
Effective March 31, 2020, the Postal Service will stop cashing international postal money orders issued by Japan Post. A customer in possession of an international postal money order issued by Japan Post must cash it at a U.S. Post Office facility before March 31, 2020. The Postal Service will not cash an international postal money order after the expiration of the validity date on the money order.
It is recommended that customers attempting to cash a Japan Post-issued international postal money order on or after March 31, 2020, return the money order to the sender.
Effective July 10, 2020, Japan Post will stop cashing international postal money orders issued by the Postal Service.
